Thriller Dance
Halloween may have just passed, but Michael Jackson’s 1983 hit “Thriller” can always be heard in dance studios worldwide. The horror themed pop song was used to produce one of the most influential music videos of all time. Filled with zombies and ghouls, the video made an impact and is still widely celebrated for it’s iconic dance.
Michael Jackson invested a lot of his time to be able to preform "Thriller" . He spent almost all of his days in the studio practicing the dance routine and getting into character for the music video. As we saw in the dance rehearsal , Michael would sometimes dance until his feet started to bleed, he would go over and over the dance until he got every move right, even if he was off by a couple of seconds. When we were practicing the dance it was really difficult for everyone to be synchronized because some people were off by a couple of seconds and that threw everyone off.
Seeing the dance rehearsal in class made me realize that dancing isn't just a hobby to do for fun, it actually takes lots of time and effort just like any other sport. Being a professional dancer is complicated because you have to learn all the steps in a short period of time and also be able to get into character and be able to tell a story by dancing. When we were learning the dance I would get stressed out because I would forget the next step and thinking about the dance moves made me fall behind.
